Why Video Marketing?
Videos are engaging. Most people respond well to audio or visual stimuli. While reading can always convey the same information, it’s important to understand that everyone responds to information in different ways. People are also busier than ever and spend very little time reading. In order to engage people quickly and effectively, video marketing strategies are an excellent tool. Here are 5 reasons why:
1. Time. Imagine how long it takes to read a book. Now imagine condensing all those hours into a movie that’s maybe an hour and a half. This isn’t to say that reading is not important. Reading is definitely important. But to a wide audience full of people who are multitasking with various technology (texting a Facebook status update while on the phone, while at work….you get the picture!) and a very limited attention span, the “less is more” approach works well.
2. Memorable Humor. If you can make people laugh, you earn their attention. I can tell you a funny story. You may laugh… but watching something funny is going to leave a longer impression. Think about the hilarious Super Bowl commercials. Specifically, think about Doritos. Now think back to their commercial from 2011′s Super Bowl: “Mmmm….. cheese!” Videos stick longer. Why? Because you watched something. You saw it in action and heard it happening.
3. Education. Whether it’s through a webinar or online video series, you open yourself, your business, and your ideas up to an audience willing to learn more. You can teach them whatever you want from the comfort of your videos. These videos can be shared with friends and family. Before you know it, you’ve effected many people with a single video.
4. Testimonials from real people. Ethics aside, there are many businesses who feel that writing a fake testimonial is going to give them a competitive edge. The people don’t always fall for it. It’s not believable. Let’s say you’re researching a company online. We’ll call it Company A. Company A has a Testimonial section with cute little paragraphs about how wonderful they are. Jane Doe, John Smith, and all their friends seem to be raving over this business. But are they real people? You’re not sure. Next, you come across Company B. Company B has gathered their happiest customers to tell you just how happy they are and why. You can see with your own eyes that they are real, everyday people who seem genuinely pleased with the service. You’re probably going to use Company B, because it speaks to you.
5. Creating Familiarity. Video marketing is a powerful and effective tool for connecting information with reality. It allows people to feel and experience emotions in a way that makes their experience seem real. This can even be said for a video tour. Many medical practices are now utilizing video tours of their office to help patients feel more comfortable upon their first visit. They can see a few familiar faces. They know what the waiting room looks like, and the exam room. When they arrive, everything is just as they saw in the video, creating a comfortable feeling of familiarity.
There are many more ways that video marketing can help your business reach customers.

How does video marketing work?
1. Website promotional videos: Welcome customers to your website and introduce your business, your team, and your mission. (Create familiarity)
2. YouTube videos: YouTube is one of many social networks where millions of users are able to connect and share content. Conveniently, these videos are also widely shared through other networks like Facebook and Twitter. Popular videos can go viral overnight. The difference between these online videos and TV commercials is the approach.People choose to watch videos on YouTube (many times it’s their best method of procrastination!). In contrast, TV commercials are often fast forwarded. While TV commercials limit you to a very short time frame, YouTube allows you more time to tell a story or showcase your product or service. You can receive feedback from viewers and track how many people are watching. If you need more viewers, we can help with that too!
3. Video Blogs: Adding videos to your site allows you to keep your content fresh. Using video blogs as a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly update provides your customers and potential customers with the latest information. They feel informed and connected, and they are! Share your video blogs on social networks to gain new customers. Your videos can also be used to help with SEO.
4. Virtual Tours: Real Estate Professionals understand that although it’s a buyer’s market, selling isn’t as easy as it once was. Rather than limiting your showings to local prospects who can fit within your busy schedule, why not accommodate anyone, anywhere, at anytime with a video tour of your property? Walk through the home and point out all its wonderful features and amenities just as you would in real life. It’s unfortunate that most Real Estate Professionals don’t take full advantage of these video marketing tools. Too often I’ve seen listings with just a few low-quality, dimly lit photos. Do you want to sell a house or sit on it? With any industry, I believe you get what you put in. In this case, you put in a little effort and your success will duplicate itself overnight. Imagine taking the time on a single showing and being able to send that to every prospect buyer, even those out of the area. Imagine how the sellers will feel towards your pro-activeness. I guarantee your listings will go up as well!
